The Turret is the second weapon obtainable in Pixel Starships. It is the only weapon that takes up a 2x2 tile space aswell. The Turret also only takes one power, this makes it a great combo when attacking with other weapons.
The Turret is pretty weak by itself, with two only doing 1 collective hull damage. However, if you pair it up with Mining Lasers it can be somewhat effective at giving some added firepower for only 1-2 power, depending on how many you put on your ship. Eventually, at higher levels the .5 damage against high level armor will be so insignificant it'll do almost nothing, so be warned.
The Turret is often dumped completely at 3K+ Trophies. Why? Because it only has one power, just like the Security Gate. This allows the enemy to get guaranteed damage when firing at the same time. If your gonna use the turret, make sure you put a TON of Armor and Crew around it.
When To Use
Below Ship Level 6
Unlike many other weapons, the Turret's effectiveness depends on the enemies you fight and defend against. Generally, low level players don't know how easy it is to win by targeting turrets. Many player's AIs are set to target Reactors instead, so using Turrets is still effective. Just make sure you armor the Turret and make it target low-armored rooms.
After Ship Level 6
After this ship level, the turret gets very risky to use. Armor at this level becomes very effective at blocking damage. People attacking your ship will usually go after your Turret aswell if they can't get any other way of dealing hull damage. You can still use it, but many other means of winning can get you much higher in the game.
