The Shield Battery is a 2x2 room unlocked at level 9 that helps restore shield capacity/hitpoints. This room will recharge shield capacity by one every reload but will not increase max shield capacity. Note that this room requires the player to have a Shield Generator onboard the ship. Otherwise, the Shield Battery will not work.
The Shield Battery's should be treated as a second shield generator. It's in the same AI category as the Shield Generator, meaning players attacking the Shield Generator will also attack the Shield Battery. Also, the Shield Battery's small size, low power consumption, and overall effectiveness will make it a common target for many players. Thus, Armor and man the Shield Battery as well as the Shield Generator.
It is also important to note that Shield Batteries will not dissipate the shield when it's destroyed like the Shield Generator does. The Shield Battery does not project a shield, it merely supports it.
When To Use
The Shield Battery is a welcomed defense room for Gunship and Teleporter ships. It'll help tremendously against enemy barrages while your ship returns fire. Players may not find room for the battery at first, but level 10 and 11 ships will have more than enough room to carry the battery.
Just like the Shield Generator, this is an AIcommand that helps save power. This AI will depower the battery once all weapons that can damage the shield are destroyed/missing. Shield Batteries are also categorized as Shield Rooms in AI coding.
