The Plasma Phaser is a 3x2 weapon room unlocked at level seven. The Plasma Phaser does 2 points of damage to crew, 1 point of damage to systems, and 0.5 points of damage to shields. The Plasma Phaser also needs to be refilled with ammo to fire. This ammo is used up every shot and costs Gas .
The Plasma Phaser is similar to the Mineral Mining Laser in combat, the only differences being projectile speed and crew damage. Thus, this room is a needed addition to gunship hulls for even more firepower against shields, crew, etc. Just make sure to refill it after every fight.
When To Use
As stated above, the Plasma Phaser is a must have for gunships. Many players use it to replace their Bolters at ship level 7. That's not to say it doesn't serve a purpose for other ships. Players will often use them to help deal with enemy weapon rooms at ship level 10 when ships can mount two Plasma Phasers. This is most common for Hangar users.
There really isn't any magic AI for the Plasma Phaser, just make sure it targets the same room all your other weapon rooms target. Also, the Plasma Phaser is categorized as a "Laser Room" in AI coding.
