The Ion Cannon is a 3x3 weapon room unlocked at level 11. The Ion Cannon requires Ion Cores to fire and the higher level the Ion Core is, the more damage the Ion Cannon will do. The Ion Cannon also consumes a maximum of six power.


In Combat

The Ion Cannon is an incredibly powerful weapon that deals massive damage but has a long reload time. It deals 3.9 shield damage, 7.8 system damage, and 13 crew damage when using the max level Ion Core. To maximize the effectiveness of the cannon, weapon or Rush Command Crew should be stationed in the room to reduce the reload time. Due to the size of the room, it can be difficult to Armor well but this should not be neglected.

When To Use

There really isn’t any reason not to use the Ion Cannon. It fits in with almost every strategy, can do massive damage, and ship level 11 should have enough space and power to utilize the Ion Cannon. Unless you are doing pure Penetrator Missile spam, use the Ion Cannon.


There really isn't any magic AI for the Ion Cannon, just make sure it targets a room and has one of the below equip AI commands to equip the Ion Core in battle. Also, the Ion Cannon is categorized as a "Cannon" in AI coding.
