Summary

The Lift is one of the most vital rooms in Pixel Starships. The Lift transports the player's Crew vertically up and down. It can also act as a horizontal corridor if placed by itself. However, Lifts cannot be placed right next to each other, so its use as a corridor is rather limited. Crew transported by the Lift's elevator cannot be damaged as the Lift itself is impossible to target. With all this, the Lift opens up a massive amount of repair, attack, and movement strategies with Crew.

Usage

Lift Mechanics

Crew wanting to enter a lift must first wait for the lift's elevator to arrive at its current ground floor (Tile its feet are on). Only one Crew member can get on at a time, and the order of which is determined by Crew Seniority and who wanted to use the Lift first.

Crew wanting to use a Lift will first walk to the closest accessible room adjacent to it. If the Lift's elevator has not arrived yet, he/she will idle in the room. Idling Crew cannot be targetted by an enemy boarder's normal attack, but they'll still be affected by damaging Crew Abilities and weaponry.

Lift Placement

There should always be a Lift on the player's ship, especially on longer ships like Qtarian Ships. Every powered room should also be connected, either through Lifts or adjacent rooms. There should be 1 or 2 main Lift systems on the player's ship, usually situated near the center. One Lift system is mostly used on lower level ships with a horizontal layout, and two Lift systems are the norm. Having more could potentially slow Crew movement or cause jams.

Lift Strategies

LiftVent1
LiftVent2
Long/busy Lift systems can utitilize this strategy to keep Crew safe while they're being transported. This strategy utilizes Service Vents to protect Crew waiting to enter a Lift.
LiftVent3
LiftHoldup
This strategy replaces the Service Vent in the "Sandwiching" strategy with a Lift. Enemy Crew waiting for a Lift can be picked off with damaging Crew Abilities or weaponry.

Trivia

  • Fully upgrading one Lift from level 1 to level 15 will cost 8,867,225 Mineral Mineral.
    • It will cost a grand total of 354,689,000 Mineral Mineral to do this to every Lift at level 12.
